The cost of living crisis is getting out of control – as merely popping out for a pizza can end up costing you a small fortune.
What used to be a cheap slice of joy to brighten up your week has become more of a treat due to soaring costs. And to reflect this issue, a woman took to X to complain about paying almost €30 for one.
The user called @imavirtualdiva said: "When did it become normal for a pizza to cost almost €30? I'm shocked". She also posted a screenshot showing the product's price.
People took to the post to suggest she should look for any offers or discounts to be added to the order. But budget airline Ryanair had a different suggestion.
They cheekily pointed out: "It's cheaper to travel to Italy and eat it there." And people seemed to love the response – as it gathered more than 12,000 likes in less than 24 hours.
It's not the first time Ryanair has got a little sassy on social media. Previously, the airline's X team berated a bald customer for complaining about their window seat.
Instead of offering an apology, the budget airline opted for a brutal two word response. They went viral for suggesting: "Turkey flight?"
While some thought the insult was a bit harsh, Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary has explained why they have such a bold approach to social media.
He remarked to Skfit that online mediums are advantageous because he can "reach lots of people at no cost". The plan seems to be to "make noise" in order to obtain the highest possible amount of visibility.
It's definitely working – as Ryanair boasts more than 800,000 followers on X alone. They also have million followers on TikTok, which suggests Gen Zers are keen on the controversial posts.
