2023 is a busy year for rocket launches on Space Coast

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Florida’s Space Coast is home to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, the busiest launch sites in the world.

This year, the spaceport is more crowded than ever as more commercial launch providers like Boeing, SpaceX, ULA and Astra deliver satellites and astronauts into low-Earth orbit.

We’ve compiled a non-exhaustive list of upcoming Space Coast launches to keep you in the know.

Keep checking back because as most space enthusiasts know, launch schedules are subject to change due to weather, technical reasons and range restrictions.

I repeat: All launch dates and times are tentative!


Date: September 29

Vehicle: SpaceX Falcon 9

Mission: A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the company’s latest batch of Starlink internet satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Launch Window: 6:39 p.m.

Location: Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station


Date: October 6

Vehicle: ULA Atlas V

Mission: A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket will launch KuiperSat-1 and 2, the first pair of prototype satellites for Amazon’s Project Kuiper broadband system — a planned constellation of over 3,000 satellites that will deliver global internet service connectivity.

Launch Window: Opens at 2 p.m.

Location: Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station


Date: Oct. 12

Vehicle: SpaceX Falcon Heavy

Mission: SpaceX will launch a triple-core Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida with NASA’s Psyche spacecraft that’s designed to study a metal asteroid orbiting the sun between Mars and Jupiter.

Launch Window: 10:38 a.m.

Location: Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center


Date: TBD in 2023

Vehicle: ULA Vulcan Centaur

Mission: United Launch Alliance’s new Vulcan Centaur rocket, which will replace Atlas V to become the only vehicle in its fleet, will fly its inaugural mission from Cape Canaveral with Astrobotic’s Peregrine lunar lander.

Launch Window: TBD

Location: Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station
