The search continues for a group of balaclava-clad thugs who bashed a former bikie and a woman with baseball bats in their driveway in what was believed to be a retaliation attack.

CCTV has been released of the moments leading up to and after the terrifying attack at Como in Perth's south as more shocking details about the December 10 incident emerge.

It's understood the injured man was a former bikie gang member who walked out on his club several weeks earlier and that the attack was a reprisal for his fleeing the underworld.

The man's partner was also attacked and doused with pepper spray.

CCTV shows a red car reversing out of the driveway of a Mary Street unit complex shortly after 7.30 pm when a white SUV blocks its path.

Three men wearing balaclavas and wielding baseball bats are seen running from a SUV blocking a driveway in Como on December 10

At least three men run from the SUV and up the driveway to chase the blocked vehicle.

Police say the group used baseball bats to smash the windows of the red car before attacking the male driver, 31.

The victim's partner, also 31, who was sitting in the passenger's seat was also assaulted while trying to help the driver and doused with pepper spray.

The getaway SUV is seen reversing back into the street with the back passenger doors still open.

Seconds later, the men are seen fleeing the scene and jumping back into getaway car.

One of the injured victims chases after their attackers in vain as the SUV speeds off.

The terrifying incident captured on CCTV is believed to be a bikie retaliation attack

The attack unfolded and was over in the space of 70 seconds.

The victims were assessed by St John Ambulance paramedics but didn't need hospital treatment.

Police have released mobile phone vision, and images of men they believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries.

The men were wearing black balaclavas and black clothing.

The ambush took place weeks after Western Australia's strict crackdown on bikie gangs was enforced.

The state has the toughest legislation in the country, which bans bikies from socialising together in public and displaying club insignia, including gang patches, stickers and tattoos.

Police urge anyone with CCTV, dash cam or mobile phone vision of the men or getaway car to contact Crime Stoppers.
