Rexburg Chamber partnering with East Idaho News for live candidate forum

REXBURG — The Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with East Idaho News for political “Meet the Candidates” forums Thursday night.

Candidates running for Rexburg Mayor and City Council will participate in forums at the Romance Theater at 2 East Main Street. The city council forum will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the mayoral forum is scheduled for 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Rexburg Mayor Jerry Merrill is running for re-election against Luke Evans and Mike Glasscock.

Six candidates are vying for three open city council seats. Incumbent Bryanna Johnson’s seat is up for grabs, while Tisha Flora and Jordan Busby are not running for re-election. The other five candidates are Rob Woodall, David Reeser, Brian Thackeray, Eric Erickson and Nathan Martin.

The candidates will answer questions about a variety of issues. The public is invited to attend both events at the Romance Theater. They will be moderated by East Idaho News reporter Nate Eaton and live-streamed on EastIdahoNews.com.

East Idaho News will also be hosting a candidate forum for Idaho Falls City Council on Oct. 19.
