Theresa Lee Scalf was killed on Oct. 27, 1986
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Polk County sheriff’s detectives say they have figured out who killed a 29-year-old Lakeland woman in 1986.
Sheriff Grady Judd is expected to discuss the findings of the case at 11:30 a.m. Monday from the Polk County operations centers in Winter Haven.
Theresa Lee Scalf was killed 37 years ago on Oct. 27, 1986. Scalf was a nurse at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. The sheriff’s office said Scalf’s mother found her dead in the victim’s apartment with her throat cut and defensive wounds on her hands.
The sheriff’s office said innovative technology helped solve the case.
Members of Scalf’s family will be attending the news conference.
