POCATELLO — A man who police say threw bricks at passing cars has been charged with multiple crimes.
Anthony Duane Burke, 26, of Pocatello, has been charged with a felony for aggravated assault and a misdemeanor for malicious injury to property, court records show.
Pocatello Police received multiple reports of a man throwing “cinder blocks or large rocks” at cars driving down Jefferson Avenue on Oct. 24, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Officers responded and spoke to Burke and another man.
Burke allegedly admitted to throwing bricks at cars. The other man told officers he saw Burke throwing the bricks and tried to stop him, but that Burke, facing him, pulled a brick behind his head as if he was going to throw a brick at the man, so the man went inside his house.
Burke was arrested and taken to Bannock County Jail. He was released to court services on his own recognizance.
Though Burke has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
If he is found guilty, Burke could face up to six years in prison.
He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Judge David Cousin on Nov. 7.
