POCATELLO — A man charged last month with stealing THC moon rocks is now facing an additional felony charge for a sex crime involving another teenager.

Jaydon Daniel Moore, 18, has been charged with sexual exploitation of a child after his cell phone, which was seized in connection with the robbery, was found to have photos and videos of a sexual nature of a 17-year-old, court records show.

Moore was arrested Sept. 22 in connection to a theft that occurred two days before.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Moore and two unidentified masked men robbed a woman at gunpoint, taking two THC moon rocks — which are a highly potent mixture of cannabis — along with psilocybin-infused chocolates and makeup items.

The victim reported the theft to Pocatello police on Sept. 20.

When officers found Moore, he was allegedly in possession of a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun, which had been reported stolen.

While reviewing in-home surveillance footage of the robbery, officers noticed that Moore was texting someone while looking at the drugs. Then, a short time later, the two other men entered the home. His phone was taken as potential evidence.

On Oct. 3, officers received a report from the forensic analysis of the phone.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, a search of the phone uncovered 40 images and six videos of a nude female. Officers identified her as a 17-year-old girl.

The affidavit shows that Moore is visible in some of the photos.

Moore, who was already in Bannock County Jail custody, has been charged with the additional felony.

Though Moore has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.

If he is found guilty, Moore, who faces up to 19 years for the the robbery and grand theft charges, could face another 30 years for the new charges.

He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday before Senior Judge Bryan Murray for a preliminary hearing.
