A man has been convicted at Belfast Magistrates' Court of driving a mobility scooter without insurance after he crashed the vehicle into a parked car.
Dominic Pyper, 61, from West Belfast appeared in court on Monday, April 14, where he faced two charges in connection with the incident that took place on Falls Road on December 15, 2024.
He admitted one count of driving a Haitong motorised mobility tricycle and one count of driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, when he crashed into a parked car.

The court heard that in the months following the incident, Pyper had paid £550 to the owner of the parked car in order to cover the costs of any damages and has insured his current mobility scooter, which he needs due to a number of health issues.
He had not been aware of the need to have the mobility scooter insured with the court being told that a vehicle of that kind requires the same insurance that a car would.
Pyper received a £250 find for each offence along with six penalty points.
