The company upholds a mission to support better lives for customers by helping them balance their physical health and emotional well-being. Under the mission, the firm has introduced and operated various welfare programs for its employees to achieve a balanced life. This helped the company take the lead in fostering a healthy organizational culture.
The mission is driven by Chung Seung-wook, general manager of Herbalife Korea, who places a great emphasis on employee communication.
Rather than relying on typical one-way directives between management and staff, the company promotes two-way communication to maintain various channels that span generations and departments. It also spares no effort in listening to employees’ diverse opinions and strives to incorporate them into the firm’s business operations.
“A culture where people enjoy their work while pursuing both personal development and health is the core of corporate competitiveness,” Chung said. “We will keep striving for a balanced life for all members, fostering a sustainable organizational culture, and fulfilling our role as a wellness-focused enterprise.”
As staff-level employees showed relatively lower positive response rates in the Great Place to Work (GPTW) trust index survey from 2023, Herbalife Korea started creating opportunities for millennial employees to dine with the general manager in small groups, offering a direct touchpoint to communicate with leadership.
The aim is to establish a communication bridge for those who have fewer opportunities to interact with leadership. Each group is formed irrespective of department, age or gender, and they were given a comfortable environment to freely discuss suggestions and ideas about the company.
Herbalife Korea underlined that this reflects the firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion policy, which emphasizes embracing voices from diverse generations.
On top of that, the company focuses on enhancing job satisfaction and employee well-being, offering its staff a variety of welfare benefits and growth opportunities.
The firm runs programs that address physical and mental health, such as exercise and counseling, along with personal development opportunities, including English education. The company also provides family-friendly welfare programs, such as a birthday leave, a selective working-hour system and educational support for employees’ children.
An open communication and flexible corporate culture allow its employees to freely share opinions or suggestions, regardless of their hierarchy. This helps the company build a more comfortable and secure organizational atmosphere.
