The 11th annual $100,000 Golf Challenge made more than $600,000 last month to benefit children’s charities throughout Palm Beach County.

Organized by the Boca West Children’s Foundation, the March 27 event took place at the Boca West Country Club and included brunch, golf, a cocktail reception and dinner.

“The annual Golf Challenge is our signature fundraiser, and so many people from the community come out to play a friendly round of golf to support local kids through their favorite charity,” said Pamela Weinroth, executive director of the Boca West Children’s Foundation. “The event sold out. We had a gorgeous day for golf and ended with a fabulous Boca West Country Club dinner.”

Funds will help more than 30 participating charities, including Boca Helping Hands, the Fuller Center and Sweet Dream Makers.

Charities that arranged for a golf tournament foursome vied for a portion of the $100,000 awarded, with each receiving $3,300 to $10,000 depending on its team’s placement. First place charity went to Sweet Dream Makers, and the Low Gross Winner was the Unicorn Children’s Foundation team.

Funds were also raised through the popular “duck drop.” Participants purchase yellow plastic ducks that are dropped from a crane, and the duck closest to the pin wins. The winner was Barbara Crowley.
