A Belfast hotel has shared its "deep sadness" as they paid tribute to a performer who was due to host a show in their venue. The Beechlawn Hotel said their Peter Kay tribute show next month was cancelled, and refunds would be given to customers.
It follows the "untimely passing" of Simon Mark. On Simon's Instagram page, a post shared the news of his death. It said "Simon fell asleep and didn't wake up".
"We all know how loved he was by all, and the fantastic memories we all had with him," the post added.

"I know this is a massive shock to everyone and he will be deeply missed. At this moment in time we don't know how, what happened or why. Fly high Si. We love you!"
A statement from Beechlawn Hotel read: "It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the cancellation of the Peter Kay tribute show at the Beechlawn Hotel on 29th March 2025. This is due to the untimely passing of the incredibly talented Simon Mark, who was scheduled to perform.
"Simon was a beloved entertainer who brought joy and laughter to countless audiences with his remarkable portrayal of Peter Kay. His sudden loss has left us all in shock and deeply saddened. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Simon's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
"We understand that this cancellation will be disappointing, and we apologise for any inconvenience it may cause. Full refunds will be issued to all ticket holders. Please call in and see our reception team for a full refund with your physical ticket."
Simon had carved his niche across the UK and Europe as an acclaimed tribute to the legendary Bolton comedian. His YouTube channel description notes that his performance is peppered with many of Kay's famous catchphrases, including the memorable: 'Garlic Bread,' asserting "Simon really does have Peter Kay down to a tee".
