Drivers forced to exit onto US-27

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – A fatal crash has forced the closure of the Florida Turnpike in Lake County, officials said.

The single-vehicle wreck happened around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near U.S. 27.

All northbound lanes of the Turnpike are closed in the area, and drivers are forced to exit onto U.S. 27. Traffic is backed up in the area.

Details about the crash have not been released.
