The friend of an East Belfast family has launched a fundraiser so they can make "happy memories together" following a stage four cancer diagnosis.

Reece Floyd received the devastating news at the end of last year that he had been diagnosed with stage four skin cancer and is currently waiting to start treatment. It comes five years after he had overcome the disease leaving him and his family facing an uncertain future.

The 29-year-old father of two, who is due to marry his fiance Lauren in just under six weeks time, has spoken of his worries as he waits to receive his treatment plan and the concerns he has about looking after his two young children during that time.

A close family friend of the couple, Andrina McCreery has now launched a fundraising appeal to help Reece, Lauren and their children make special memories in the coming weeks and months. She also hopes that it can help contribute to the couple's upcoming wedding.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Andrina said Reece is "the kindest soul you could ever meet" who has done so much to support his family and friends over the years and now needs some help in return.

She said: "I have been close friends with Lauren since we were teenagers and I was actually there the first time that she met Reece, so I have seen their relationship grow over the years to what it is today.

"Reece is one of the kindest souls that anyone could meet and really has a heart of gold. He does so much to look after Lauren and their children and is always there for anyone in need.

"It has broken my heart to hear of the diagnosis he received and the battle they are going to have in the weeks and months ahead and I just want to do anything that I can to help them make memories together and support their children, who are their number one focus.

"They are such a wonderful and happy family and if anyone can donate a little bit to help them I would be very grateful and hopefully we can make the coming months much easier for them and allow them to dedicate the time they need to one another."
