2 people, including firefighter, injured in house fire

FORT HALL — At 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Fort Hall Fire Department responded to a house fire on North Bannock Road. It has been determined that the house is a total loss.

There were reported injuries.

According to Fire Chief Eric King, Fort Hall Fire was originally responding to a report of a medical emergency. While en route they were notified of smoke coming from the basement and they upgraded to a full fire response including Blackfoot Fire.

Upon arrival they discovered the front and roof of the home engulfed in flames. Fort Hall Police were already on-scene and were rescuing a victim through the basement window. Injuries were sustained by an occupant and a firefighter.

“We want to thank the Fort Hall PD officers that assisted in getting the fire victim from the burning home,” said Fire Chief Eric King. “We would also like to thank Blackfoot Fire for their assistance.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fort Hall Police, Fort Hall Fire and the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s office. The American Red Cross is aiding the family because the home is a total loss along with all of the family’s belongings.
