Sri Lanka Introduces Odd–Even Fuel Distribution System Based on Vehicle Number Plates

3 months ago 971

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has announced that fuel distribution under the QR code system will be regulated based on the odd–even numbering of vehicle registration plates, effective from tomorrow.

According to this system, vehicles with registration numbers ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 will be eligible to obtain fuel on even-numbered days, while vehicles ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 will be permitted to refuel on odd-numbered days.

The decision aims to streamline fuel distribution and reduce congestion at filling stations.

CPC Managing Director Dr. Mayura Netthikumara confirmed that this structured approach will be implemented alongside the existing QR-based fuel allocation system to ensure a more orderly and efficient supply process.
