Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated that many of the issues related to the QR code used when obtaining fuel are currently being resolved.
He explained that if a vehicle already had a QR code and the vehicle number has not changed, the same QR code can still be used without any problem.
He also said that in cases where the vehicle remains the same but the number plate has been changed, some time had to be given for owners to obtain a new QR code.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the issues related to people who purchased new vehicles have now been completely resolved, and that process has been successfully completed.
According to the minister, the main remaining issue is related to changes in vehicle ownership. In such cases, problems occurred because the previous owner’s QR code had not been removed. He explained that this issue is also currently being addressed.
Meanwhile, around 30,000 vehicles per hour are being registered in the system, which he highlighted as a significant progress. Accordingly, he added that most of the issues related to the QR code system are now being successfully resolved.
