The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has announced an increase in fuel quotas issued under the QR code system, effective from midnight today (21).

According to the revised allocation, the fuel quota for motor cars has been increased from 15 litres to 25 litres per week.

Three-wheelers will now receive 20 litres, up from the previous 15 litres, while vans will see their weekly quota raised from 40 litres to 50 litres.

Motorcycles will also benefit from the revision, with their quota increased from 5 litres to 8 litres.

Meanwhile, buses will receive a significant increase, with allocations rising from 60 litres to 100 litres per week.

For land vehicles (dual-purpose vehicles), the quota has been raised from 25 litres to 40 litres under the new revision.

However, the CPC stated that there will be no changes to the existing allocations for lorries and special-purpose vehicles. Lorries will continue to receive 200 litres, while special-purpose vehicles will remain at 40 litres.

The move is expected to provide relief to motorists and transport operators amid ongoing fuel management measures implemented through the QR-based distribution system.
