Trevor Sheatz, 30, who has built a following through online ministry content, drew criticism after describing his wife Ashley Sheatz, 27, as a “former promiscuous sexual sinner” while presenting himself as a virgin prior to their marriage.
In a widely shared post, Sheatz said his wife had undergone a dramatic religious transformation before their relationship, adding that she had become “more pure than most virgins” following her conversion. He also claimed the couple avoided any physical intimacy before marriage, including their first kiss, which he said took place at their wedding in August 2020.
While Sheatz’s message was intended to emphasize themes of repentance and redemption within Christian teachings, many social media users accused him of publicly shaming his wife by exposing her past to a global audience. The post attracted tens of thousands of comments, with critics saying he had “thrown his wife under the bus.”
