NICE SHOT! — Fans at a recent college basketball game erupted in excitement after watching a Texas Tech student sink an incredible 94-foot putt on the court.

Texas Tech senior Blake Porter accomplished the amazing feat during the No. 9-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders and No. 4-ranked Houston Cougars men’s basketball game on Feb. 24, 2025.

During a commercial break, Porter participated in an on-court putt challenge. The golfball was placed on the baseline where Porter took the shot.

“Putting on a basketball court it’s not so easy,” the announcer is heard saying.

As the announcer continues talking, the ball quickly rolls down the entire court and right into the small hole.

“It’s in!” the announcer exclaims. “The place goes bananas, and what do you do? You go and celebrate with Patrick Mahomes.”

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and Texas Tech alum Mahomes was sitting courtside at the game. Video shows Mahomes and Porter celebrating together by giving a shoulder bump in the air.

Porter said he initially received Apple headphones, an iPad and a cooler for making the shot. But Mahomes ended up surprising Porter with a video telling him that Texas Tech athletics would be paying his tuition next fall.

Mahomes also said that he and Adidas would make Porter an honorary member of his NIL initiative with Texas Tech, Team Mahomes.

Porter is studying finance and plans to attend grad school next year.
