Global fuel prices have risen sharply amid escalating tensions linked to the Iran conflict and ongoing instability in the Strait of Hormuz, with the impact being strongly felt across multiple countries including the United Kingdom, according to international media reports.
Diesel prices in the UK have climbed to their highest level since December 2022, while petrol prices have reached their highest point in 28 months.
At present, the average price of petrol stands at 152 pence per litre, while diesel has risen to 181.2 pence per litre.
According to the Royal Automobile Club, the increase has significantly affected household costs. Compared to prices before the Iran-related tensions, an average family now pays an additional £10.55 to fill a petrol vehicle.
For diesel vehicles, the additional cost is estimated at £21.35 per tank.
In response to rising fuel costs, several countries have begun implementing measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption and mitigating economic pressure.
