The office of impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol again snubbed a summons issued by investigative authorities for questioning over the botched martial law imposition, a joint probe team handling the case said Monday.

This is the second time Yoon has refused to receive the mail containing the joint investigation team's summons request, after Yoon ignored the first summons last week.

The joint investigation team has sent the summons documents via mail and electronically to Yoon's official residence and the presidential office in Yongsan.

They were planning to question Yoon on Christmas Day.

Yoon's apparent non-compliance with the investigation procedures has delayed what has now evolved into a cross-agency probe into insurrection and other charges related to his brief martial law imposition on Dec. 3.

On top of ignoring the summons, it still remains unclear who will represent Yoon legally, as his side has not submitted the required paperwork for his defense team to the investigative body.

With no response from Yoon's side, the investigation team is considering whether to issue a third summons or seek a court warrant to detain the president and compel him to undergo interrogation.

Yoon has refused to follow the procedures required by the Constitutional Court regarding the preparatory hearing on his impeachment.

The court said Monday that it will proceed with the first hearing as scheduled for Friday, considering the necessary documents as delivered to him, regardless of whether he has actually received them. (Yonhap)
