A lawyer for President Yoon Suk Yeol vowed Friday to take legal action over what he called the "illegal" and "invalid" execution of a warrant by investigators to detain the impeached president.

Investigators entered the presidential residence earlier in the day to detain Yoon over his failed imposition of martial law last month but have been blocked by troops inside.

"The execution of a warrant that is illegal and invalid is not lawful," Yun Gap-geun, one of Yoon's legal representatives, told Yonhap News Agency.

"As procedures for objections to the warrant are under way at the Constitutional Court and the court, (we) will take legal action over the unlawful situation of the illegal warrant execution."

Yoon's defense team has filed for an injunction to suspend the warrant to the Constitutional Court, as well as a separate objection to the warrant's execution to the Seoul Western District Court. (Yonhap)
