Woman shouts for help as she escapes house during attempted burglary in South Belfast

A woman escaped from her house and shouted to neighbours for help during an attempted burglary in South Belfast.

At around 8.30pm on Wednesday, March 12, police received a report that an attempt had been made to gain access to a house in the Sharman Way area through patio doors in the rear of the property.

The suspects smashed the glass in the door, alerting the female occupant of the house who escaped and shouted to neighbours for assistance. The suspects then fled from the scene empty handed.

Police have issued an appeal for information. A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Detectives are appealing for information following a report of an attempted burglary at a house in the Sharman Way area of south Belfast.

"Shortly after 8.30pm, on Wednesday 12th March, police received a report that an attempt had been made to gain access to the house through patio doors to the rear of the property. The suspects smashed the glass in the patio door alerting the female occupant, who escaped from the house shouting to neighbours for assistance. The suspects then fled the scene empty handed.

"Detectives are appealing to anyone with information or CCTV, doorbell or other footage that could assist with their investigation, to call them at Musgrave on 101 and quote reference number 1691 12/03/25.
