LOGAN, Utah (ABC4) — A woman was found dead after a fire at a Logan home Saturday morning, according to Logan Police.
At around 7:45 a.m. on Feb. 22, police responded to a report of a structure fire at a residence near 900 West 1000 South in Logan.
Police confirmed that they found a woman deceased inside the home. The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time, but officials believe the flames originated in a single room on the second story of the residence.
Three people were evacuated from the building, and the fire was able to be contained to the room where it is believed to have started.
“They were able to get out of the building OK, but that area of the building also sustained smoke and heat damage,” Craig Humphreys, assistant chief with the Logan Fire Department, told ABC4.com. “The Red Cross is on-scene at this time to help care for them, provide them with their needs that they may have at this time.”
There were no other injuries reported after the fire.
“Further details are not being released pending notification of family,” a press release from Logan Police states. “Victim Advocates and the Cache County Attorney’s Office are on scene to help those affected by this tragic incident.”
The public was asked to avoid the area.
