A woman walking in North Berkeley was struck and killed by a driver Sunday afternoon about a block from Monterrey Market.
Berkeley police said they found the woman pinned under a vehicle at the intersection of Ada and California streets around 1 p.m.
“Due to the severity of the collision, the Berkeley Fire Department had to extricate the victim from underneath the vehicle,” police spokesperson Jessica Perry said in an email.
She was taken to Highland Hospital and died from her injuries.
Photos of the scene shared with the Berkeley Scanner showed a bag of groceries and a pair of glasses strewn in the middle of the road next to a Chevrolet Bolt.
Police said the Fatal Accident Investigation Team is looking into the collision and no arrests have been made.
