Woman dies following house fire in West Belfast

A woman has died following a house fire in West Belfast on Monday. The PSNI have confirmed that a woman in her 50s died following a fire at a property in the New Barnsley Park area of the city on December 16.

The emergency services were called to the fire at around 3.25pm, with firefighters working to extinguish the blaze.

Sadly however, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have said they are conducting enquiries into the woman's death and it is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

Detective Sergeant Christine Alexander said: “Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service extinguished the blaze but, sadly, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Police are conducting enquiries into this death, on behalf of the Coroner. At this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious.”
