Why this vet says you should microchip your pet

Today, Dr. Sweeney, the veterinarian at Snake River Animal Shelter in Idaho Falls, discusses microchipping and why you should consider it for your pet.

“It’s a way to scan your pet with a number so that if it comes into a vet clinic, a shelter or animal control, they can scan it. A number pops up and that number is associated with your phone number,” Sweeney says.

It identifies you as the legal owner of the animal so no one else can claim it’s theirs.
