ARCO — The EastIdahoNews.com team is highlighting different jobs in our area, and today, we’re workin’ it with the Pro Force at Idaho National Laboratory.

We visited the Pro Force to learn more about how they protect 890 square miles of the laboratory’s infrastructure, national security and over 6,100 employees every day.

We got to watch the Pro Force undergo a training drill, showing just how skilled, fit, and prepared they are – and need to be – at all times.

Casey Overholser, a technical trainer, walked us through the officers’ day-to-day activities and what they do to protect INL assets.

Jayden Burgie, a security police officer at INL, even let me try on his security gear, which was, in a word, heavy — 35 to 40 pounds of gear to be exact.

This shows the intense physical shape these officers must maintain to be at their best in the field.
