What does it take to work at a grocery store? I visited Broulim’s to find out.

AMMON — The EastIdahoNews.com team is highlighting different jobs in our area, and today, we’re Workin’ It at the Broulim’s grocery store in Sandcreek Commons in Ammong.

I met with Store Director Ryan Bishop, who showed me two departments critical to the grocery store’s function.

We first started at the bakery, and Taylor Hansen, a baker, and Marge Swenson, the bakery manager, showed me how they make their donuts from scratch. We went through the process of flattening and cutting the dough, then frying and glazing the donuts.

We then went to the cash registers and learned how to operate them from Scot Swenson, the Assistant Front-End Manager. He explained why this part of the job is so critical to keeping customers returning to shop at Broulim’s.
