Two charities in West Belfast are teaming up for a fundraising event to support their work in mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Out of the Darkness - A Walk of Hope is a special event dedicated to raising awareness of these issues, organised by the 50to50 Walking Group in collaboration with West Wellbeing and Foodstock.

The event, which is taking place on Sunday, April 6, is set to be a meaningful walk, with every step taken representing a commitment to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. All funds raised during the walk will stay within the local community, directly supporting the vital services provided by both West Wellbeing and Foodstock.

Both charities offer mental health support, suicide prevention resources, and practical aid to those facing financial hardship throughout West Belfast. West Wellbeing delivers counselling and crisis intervention services, while Foodstock ensures individuals and families facing food insecurity have access to nutritious meals and essential items.

"Every step we take together strengthens the support network for those who need it most. Every penny raised will remain in our community to help both organisations continue to deliver and contribute to the needs of the people that live here.

"We have assembled a great bunch of people to organise the event. A special mention to Gerard Mulhern and the 50to50 walking group who are leading the overseeing of the event."

The event will take place on April 6, with participants meeting at the Kennedy Centre from 6.30am, the walk will then commence at 7am, going to Foodstock and onwards to West Wellbeing.

Participation in the walk is open to everyone. You can register as an individual, join a team, or even volunteer to help on the day of the event. Whether you choose to walk, donate, or spread the word, your involvement will make a difference.
