A Northern Ireland man living in Australia was left red-faced after he ordered a takeaway to Ireland by mistake in a 9,600 mile mishap.
Oisin Lenehan moved to Melbourne and was staying with friends Kyle, 33, and Sarah, 29, until he found a place of his own. The 29-year-old ordered two BBQ chicken pizzas, garlic bread and chips on Uber Eats, setting him back £50.
After receiving confirmation that the takeaway was on its way, he realised that he'd ordered the food to an address in near Dublin which is 9,000 miles away. "I ordered from what I thought was a local place," Oisin, from Aghagallon, told What's the Jam.
"We were enjoying a nice evening of drinks and I thought I'd get us a takeaway because I was their guest. "It was all wonderful until I got confirmation that the order was completed and checked the summary.
"The food was being sent to a place in Dublin where I'd been for a night out. "I was absolutely gutted. "My heart just dropped because we were hungry and we were going to have to go through the whole process again of deciding where to order and what we wanted."
A clip of Oisin begging the takeaway to refund his order has gone viral on TikTok, racking up more than 500,000 views. Kyle says he's been inundated with messages from girls hoping to get Oisin's number.
Oisin said: "I had to ring them and they gave me a refund but that's when Sarah started filming. "It's a typical thing for me to do. These incidents happen to me all the time and I didn't realise there was an audience for it.
"I love that people found it funny." Oisin quit his job as a management consultant to move to Melbourne last month.
Kyle added: "He's so funny. He didn't even care about the money, he just wanted the food. "He's always eating. When we decided to get a takeaway, he just jumped in with both feet and we told him to slow down.
"He was so respectful on the phone. "We were laughing our heads off.
"People have been messaging asking for his social media and saying he can have a takeaway delivered to their house.
"We kept thinking the views would stop at half a million but they keep going."
