Testimony continues Monday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Witness testimony continued Monday in the murder trial of David Tronnes, who is accused of beating and strangling his wife in 2018.

Prosecutors are continuing to build their case against Tronnes, who is accused of killing his wife Shanti in their Delaney Park home in April of 2018 as their house was undergoing major renovations.

Prosecutors said at the outset that they planned to call as many as 25 witnesses.

On Monday they were expected to continue questioning the producer of a home renovation reality TV series that Tronnes wanted to be on to help pay for the work on the house because the couple was in debt since the home was a money pit.

“This home show, this zombie house flipping, was the lifeline out of this mess that they dug themselves into, and (Shanti Tronnes) at that point, a week before her murder, was not into it.,” prosecutors said in court Friday.

Orange County Judge Jenifer Harris said she expects the trial could wrap up sometime this coming week.

Defense attorneys still have to call their witnesses. It’s not known whether Tronnes himself will take the stand. Tronnes is charged with first-degree murder.
