There's been a bit of a kerfuffle among Ryanair passengers recently, with many questioning whether the airline's cabin bag rules have changed. Some flyers have voiced concerns that bags previously deemed acceptable may no longer meet the requirements.
However, Ryanair has reassured customers that their regulations haven't altered, stating: "The rules have not changed in ten years."
In response to the online buzz, the budget carrier even released a video clarifying the bag size guidelines.
According to Ryanair, the carry-on bag rules are straightforward. The video, shared earlier this month, also highlights that there is only room for 100 larger bags in the overhead lockers once onboard - emphasising the importance of ensuring all passengers' bags are the correct size.
Last year, Ryanair confirmed: "We haven't changed the rules on bags, changed the dimensions allowed or shrunk the sizers at departure gates. It hasn't happened, I've just checked into this again because we have seen all the chat on social media. The rules have not changed in ten years.", reports Cork Beo.
The airline suggested that any issues might arise from passengers who had previously slipped through the net without their bags being thoroughly checked, stating: "What may be happening, is that people that have gotten through a few times before because they were not closely checked have finally gotten that check. It's a system operated by humans so it can differ from flight to flight, airport to airport.
"But no, we haven't secretly replaced the bag sizers at the gates. Just look at them the next time you fly. They usually look like they've gotten a fair bit of use over a long time!".
