The White House said Friday that a federal law enforcement agency has arrested a Korean national convicted of possession or control of material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct, as it underscored an ongoing nationwide immigration crackdown.

During a press briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt provided information on arrests of foreign nationals by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an agency under the Department of Homeland Security.

"On Jan. 28, 2025, ICE Atlanta arrested a citizen of South Korea who has been convicted of nine counts of possession or control of material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct," she said.

The White House posted related information on X, saying that the person had served five years in jail and was on 20 years probation.

After the Trump administration took office on Jan. 20, it launched a crackdown to block illegal immigration and promote border security. (Yonhap)
