Two shows based in Northern Ireland have featured in the New York Times Best TV Shows of 2024 list.

Say Nothing, the Disney show based on the New York Times Best Selling Book of the same name by Patrick Radden Keefe, shares a gripping tale of murder and memory set against the backdrop of Northern Ireland during The Troubles. It features on the overall Best Shows of 2024 in the prestigious New York Times list.

Of the show, TV Critic James Poniewozik said: "It’s a tough but enthralling work that traces old scars, revives bitter memories and measures a generational account of multiplying injustice."

Belfast based Blue Lights also made the list, featuring in the Best International Shows section. The drama written by Adam Patterson and Declan Lawn follows the lives of PSNI officers working around Belfast and what it means to work and serve in the police force in Northern Ireland.

New York Times TV Critic Mike Hale said: "The Troubles are alive in this Northern Irish crime drama, a legacy of damage, suspicion and hatred that threatens cops every time they step out of their cars.

"Filmed on location in and around Belfast, “Blue Lights” is a paragon of the police procedural, presenting familiar elements — rookie jitters, opaque politics, unwise workplace romance — with emotional nuance and unforced humor.

"Sian Brooke, playing a middle-aged woman who brings the instincts of a social worker to her new job as a cop, stands out in the terrific ensemble cast."
