Trump Suddenly Exits Courtroom as His New York Civil Fraud Trial Heats Up

Donald Trump swept out of his $250 million New York civil fraud trial on Wednesday, a move that apparently left his Secret Service detail scrambling to follow him and those who remained in the courtroom, including his own lawyers, stunned.

Trump’s dramatic exit came after Judge Arthur Engoron slapped him with a $10,000 penalty for violating an order not to talk about his court staff, and later denied a motion by Trump’s attorney to throw out the trial as Michael Cohen testified on the stand.

“The witness just admitted that we won the trial,” Trump told reporters outside the courtroom, according to CNN and NBC News. “And the judge should end this trial immediately.”
