Washington — U.S. President Donald Trump has criticized Israel’s recent strike on Iran’s South Pars natural gas field, issuing a statement condemning the attack.
In a post shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump suggested that Israel’s action was a key factor that triggered a series of retaliatory attacks by Iran targeting energy infrastructure in the Persian Gulf region.
“Angered by developments in the Middle East, Israel launched a violent attack on Iran’s massive ‘South Pars’ gas field. However, only a relatively small portion of the overall system was damaged,” Trump stated.
He further emphasized that the United States had no prior knowledge of the strike, adding that Qatar was also not involved and had no awareness of the incident.
“Unfortunately, Iran was unaware of these facts and unjustly targeted Qatar’s LNG facilities,” he said.
Trump also expressed the view that further attacks on the strategically significant South Pars gas field by Israel are unlikely, underscoring the importance of the facility in global energy supply.
The South Pars field, one of the largest natural gas reserves in the world, plays a critical role in regional and global energy markets, making the incident a major concern amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
