President Donald Trump compared federal agents to 'Gestapo' members Tuesday as he complained about how the search of Mar-a-Lago was stacking up to the discovery of classified documents inside the home and an office used by President Joe Biden.
Trump referred to the FBI agents who carried out the search of Mar-a-Lago under a court-approved warrant both as 'Gestapo' and as 'Trump Hating Marxist Thugs, who he said would 'plant' documents on him.
At the same time, Trump for the first time put forward an explanation for why dozens of empty folders marked 'classified' where among the thousands of documents uncovered at his Florida club following a subpoena.
It all comes amid continued questions about what brought Biden's lawyers to search his Wilmington, Delaware home for documents, including some marked 'top secret,' and who had access to the Penn Biden Center office and Wilmington garage where the documents were discovered by Biden's team.
Trump said he saved 'hundreds' of the folders following secure briefings in the Oval Office. He said he kept them as a 'cool' keepsake – and then posited that the government was using the folders to run up the amount of classified material found at Mar-a-Lago.

'The Fake News Media & Crooked Democrats (That’s been proven!) keep saying I had a “large number of documents” in order to make the Biden Classified Docs look less significant. When I was in the Oval Office, or elsewhere, & “papers” were distributed to groups of people & me, they would often be in a striped paper folder with “Classified” or “Confidential" or another word on them.,' Trump wrote in a pair of posts on his 'Truth Social' web site.
'When the session was over, they would collect the paper(s), but not the folders, & I saved hundreds of them... ' he continued.
'Remember, these were just ordinary, inexpensive folders with various words printed on them, but they were a “cool” keepsake. Perhaps the Gestapo took some of these empty folders when they Raided Mar-a-Lago, & counted them as a document, which they are not. It’s also possible that the Trump Hating Marxist Thugs in charge will “plant” documents while they’re in possession of the material. As President, and based on the Presidential Records Act & Socks Case, I did NOTHING WRONG. JOE DID!'

The FBI disclosed categories of material its agents uncovered in court filings. In one, the bureau disclosed finding 48 empty folders that had contained classified materials. The feds uncovered 300 documents with classified markings.
Several of the 10 documents uncovered at the Penn Biden Center in D.C., where Biden maintained an office, reportedly included 'top secret' markings, with a similar amount of documents found at his Wilmington home.
The discovery of the documents prompted AG Merrick Garland to appoint Robert Hur as special counsel to probe the situation. A separate special counsel, Jack Smith, is overseeing the Trump documents investigation as well as the January 6 probe.
