Tributes as man dies following farming accident in Co Tyrone

Tributes has been made to a "devoted father" who died following a tragic farm accident in Co Tyrone.

John Logue has been named locally as the man who died following the incident at a farm in the Pullytean Road area of Killeter, near Castlederg on Tuesday, March 18.

The emergency services were called to the scene with police saying they are not treating his death as suspicious at this time.

Local Sinn Fein councillor Caroline Devine said the tragic death was "devastating news" for the local community and her thoughts are with John's family and friends at this time.

She said: "Devastating news in our parish yesterday. My thoughts and prayers are with John's family and friends at this devastating time. May John's soul rest in peace"

John has been described as a devoted family man in online tributes who will be greatly missed.

Castlederg bar, The Anglers Inn, paid tribute to him on social media saying: "We are very sorry to hear about the tragic passing of local man John Logue, a familiar face here at the bar.

"John was a devoted father who’s face lit up when chatting about his son, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time may he rest in peace."

A spokesperson from HSENI said: “HSENI attended an incident in the Castlederg area last night. We are working to establish the facts surrounding the incident and while our enquiries are ongoing it would not be appropriate to comment.”

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police attended the scene of a sudden death which occurred in the Pullytean Road area of Killeter on Tuesday, March 18. The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed."
