Many people enjoy jetting off on holiday, but the journey can be stressful.
If you fly with Ryanair, a travel expert has shared some valuable advice. He claims there's a simple way to avoid the seat allocation process and "bag the best seats".
The TikTok creator, known as Live_TheDash, says this function allows you to "not pay extra for your seat on the plane", but warns against being "fooled" by the process.
He explains: "This function should actually be called guaranteed middle seat, in the middle of the plane, as far away from the rest of your party as the algorithm will allow, but you can beat the system."
He shared his top tips for choosing a seat, adding: "If you do decide to cave in, and buy a seat on the plane, please remember these golden rules. Choose a seat in front of an extra legroom chair to guarantee noone kicks you in the back.
"The right hand side of the plane actually has one less row, so you get an extra inch of leg room in D, E and F. Remember, row one is just a permanent ticket to a never-ending toilet queue.
"But if you really don't want to pay, there is another option. Hang around the check-in desk like a bad smell, enter using the back door and make sure you're the very last person on the plane.
"As you walk down the cabin, choose any free chair you like."
Since the video was shared, it has garnered over 24,000 views and plenty of comments to boot. There's a wealth of opinions about the topic.
One viewer advised: "Never pay the extra and always have good places." Someone else added: "Couldn't care less where I sit."
A third also replied: "I just wait until the last minute to check in, and always end up with the best seat."
What to know about Ryanair
When it comes to Ryanair's seating policy, travellers are presented with two choices: pay for reserved seating or take a chance with the free seats that are doled out randomly during the check-in process.
For those who don't mind where they sit, "random seat allocation" is available from 24 hours up to two hours before the flight's scheduled departure. For those wanting a particular spot on the plane, purchasing a seat at booking, during online check-in, or any time prior to the flight will let them choose and guarantee their desired seat.
Should you decide to select and pay for your seat, Ryanair allows online check-in as early as 60 days ahead of the flight. The price, naturally, varies based on your seat preference.
The airline's website explains: "If you choose not to pay to reserve a seat, your seat will be assigned to you free of charge when you check in, between 24 hours and two hours prior to departure."
