Tom Hardy’s new small screen project has already been a roaring success after just one episode was released last week.

The series premiered last Sunday on Paramount+ and already holds the title of the streaming service’s biggest launch ever.

A staggering 2.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the Hollywood A-lister’s latest appearance alongside a stellar all-star cast.

With a wealth of talent in front of and behind the camera, crime drama fans won’t want to miss out on MobLand now it’s a bona fide hit.

From executive producer and director Guy Ritchie, plus Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett penning the scripts, the 10-part series could emerge as one of 2025’s best new shows.

It has already surpassed Paramount+’s other hits, Yellowstone prequel 1923 and Taylor Sheridan’s most recent new drama, Landman.

MobLand teams up James Bond’s Pierce Brosnan with 1923 star Helen Mirren as the Harrigans, heads of one of the biggest crime families in London.

When a rival criminal empire starts to move in on their territory, they’re forced to call in fixer Harry Da Souza (played by Hardy) to protect their family.

Paramount Co-CEO and President Chris McCarthy said of the show’s incredible results: “MOBLAND is a runaway success thanks to the visionary work of Guy, Jez [Butterworth, writer], Ronan and David Glasser and brought to life by the exceptional Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren who transport us into a world audiences clearly cannot get enough of.

“MOBLAND is yet another proof point for the power of our differentiated model – fewer, bigger, breakthrough series that can cut through the clutter and also builds on our 2024 record success where we finished as the #2 SVOD for original series time spent viewing.”

The drama also features a number of huge names from prestige TV, such as House of the Dragon’s Paddy Considine, Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt and Ozark’s Janet McTeer.

MobLand has also received strong reviews from TV fans who agree it demonstrates Snatch director Ritchie is still at his best, while Hardy delivers one of his best performances.

A five-star Google review says: “This is simply superb. Guy Ritchie is in epic form with his newest release.

“A gritty British gangster series with a strong (if not predictable) plot. Outstanding performances from an outstanding cast.”

They went on to claim: “This is likely one of [Pierce Brosnan’s] best performances in the last 20 years — the character he plays maybe permitting him a more age-appropriate and realistic chance to show his skills.

“Excellent performances from everyone else — particular mention to Froggatt and Mirren.

“This series is setting out to be unparalleled and I’m greatly looking forward to watching the story unfold — even if the process of getting there may be somewhat tried and tested.”

MobLand continues Sundays on Paramount+.
