Alison Hammond has spoken candidly about her upcoming television venture, describing it as "wonderful" and comparing it to "therapy".

The beloved TV star, 50, is gearing up for the launch of ITV's second instalment of For the Love of Dogs with Alison Hammond, slated for 1 April. Alison took over presenting the show following the passing of Paul O'Grady in 2023.

To drum up excitement for the upcoming series, Alison joined Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden for a chat on Heart Breakfast on Friday, 28 March. During the interview, she offered a glimpse into the upcoming episodes and shared her enthusiasm about helming the show.

"Oh gosh, it's wonderful. It's like therapy," she enthused to Amanda and Jamie. "When I go to Battersea, it's my therapy, where I get all my cuddles, all my love from the dogs."

The star elaborated: "They're absolutely beautiful. There are some tear-jerking stories, there are some loopy dogs out there as well who are crazy!"

She added: "But you know what, I'm armed with my snacks. I've got my chicken, and I'm all over them. And do you know what? I've had such a lovely series."

Alison revealed an intriguing tale of one pup, Woody, embarking on a new adventure with the Ministry of Defence in the upcoming series, and shared how she's grown confident in her role, branding herself a "dog guru".

In parting, Alison sweetly shared: "I get the kisses, I get everything. I get all the love that I need and then I go home."

For the Love of Dogs sees Alison venture to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London, pitching in to help rescue dogs find a new, loving home.

In this fresh six-part series, she rolls up her sleeves to join in with walking, feeding, and training the dogs, working closely with the knowledgeable staff and eager volunteers at Battersea.

Ahead of the much-anticipated launch of the second series, Alison shared her insights about her work on For the Love of Dogs and called on all dog enthusiasts to watch, reports Birmingham Live.

"We're a nation of dog lovers, so this show is for everybody. You know, if you're thinking about getting a dog, you're going to love this show," she expressed. "If you're thinking about fostering, you're going to love this show. This show is universal. It's for absolutely everybody who wants to be around the love and loyalty these beautiful animals give us."
