The average price of home heating oil has reduced across Northern Ireland over the past week as we inch closer to spring.
We have seen a lot more sunshine over the past week and as we head into March and closer to the start of meteorological spring, we're further from the cold, dark mornings, and this seems to have impacted the price of home heating oil.
On February 20, the average price of a 300 litre fill-up was £197.38 - a week on, that has fallen to £194.37. The price of 500 litres of home heating oil has decreased by £5 in the same time period, going from £306.65 to £301.61, the Consumer Council's Home Heating Oil Index shows.

A 900 litre top-up costs around £7 less than it did seven days ago, with the average price in Northern Ireland now sitting at £532.48. The average price in each area varies, however, with some spots coming in at a good bit lower than this.
The Mid & East Antrim area is the cheapest place to buy 300 litres of home heating oil this week, with average costs £2.81 below the Northern Ireland average at £191.56.
When it comes to 500 litres and 900 litres of oil, the Ards & North Down council area has the cheapest prices. Here, 500 litres of home heating oil costs around £298.45, £3.16 below the NI average, while 900 litres is a whopping £4.11 under the average price, coming in at around £528.37.
As for the most expensive home heating oil this week, the steepest spot is in the Derry City & Strabane council area. This areas has the highest costs in Northern Ireland this week across all amounts of oil.
For 300 litres, the average cost is £3.89 above average at £198.26, 500 litres will set you back £307.06, around £5.45 higher than average. For 900 litres, the price is £8.67 above average at £541.15.
