The chase is on: East Idaho sending 14 teams to the state championships

IDAHO FALLS – It’s Week 3 for winter state championships with the boys basketball state tournaments converging on the Boise area beginning Thursday.

Eastern Idaho will be represented by 14 teams, with Preston earning the top seed in 5A.

Snake River in 4A, Firth in 3A and Rockland in 1A are each seeded second.
Here is the schedule with opening round matchups.

6A at the Idaho Center

No. 3 Madison vs. No. 6 Boise, noon
No. 7 Thunder Ridge vs. No. 2 Lake City, 2 p.m.

5A at Rocky Mountain HS

No. 3 Hillcrest vs. No. 6 Columbia, noon
No. 1 Preston vs. No. 8 Jerome, 5 p.m.
No. 5 Bonneville vs. No. 4 Middleton, 7 p.m.

4A at Eagle HS

No. 3 Sugar-Salem vs. No. 6 McCall-Donnelly, noon
No. 2 Snake River vs. No. 7 Filer, 2 p.m.
No. 5 Marsh Valley vs. No. 4 Cole Valley, 7 p.m.

3A at Capital HS
