Olympian Tharushi Karunarathne left for the United States (Aug 31) upon receiving a full four-year scholarship at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
She will be an undergraduate in management there and also continue her sports in the NCAA Division I circuit.
The 19-year-old competed at the Paris Olympics in the women’s 800m.
Tharushi won gold at the Asian Athletic Championships in 2022, and at the Asian Games last year.
