Rochdale Football Club has issued a statement confirming the sad passing of their former midfielder, Joe Thompson, after a courageous fight against cancer. Thompson, who began his career in Manchester United's academy, became an iconic figure at Rochdale, making over 200 appearances for the club across three separate stints.
Throughout his playing career, Thompson demonstrated remarkable resilience, battling cancer twice before being diagnosed with stage four lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that had spread to his lungs, for a third time last April.
