A dog has been found chained up on wasteland - two weeks after it went missing from an animal shelter.
The dog, a black and white lurcher, was discovered by Gardai during a search this morning and has since been moved to a safe place. The nervous animal was chained up near housing in Cork city without any food or water, and its ribs and spine showed prominently under its skin.
Gardai continue to investigate the theft from the animal shelter - and in the meantime officers say that the poor pup is "getting all the food, water and belly rubs" it needs.
Posting on social media today Gardai explained: "While conducting a search operation in Cork city this morning, Gardai found this lurcher dog chained up on wasteland near a residential area. The abandoned dog was very distressed and had no food or water."

"The dog has since been moved to safety and is currently getting all the food, water and belly rubs necessary!"
"Gardai in Cork continue to investigate the circumstances of the theft in January."
