Korea will join a U.S.-led multinational anti-submarine warfare exercise in waters off Guam on Tuesday as part of efforts to bolster capabilities against underwater threats, the Navy said.
A P-3 maritime patrol aircraft and some 40 personnel will be mobilized for the annual Sea Dragon exercise set to begin later in the day through March 14, alongside U.S., Japanese, Australian and Indian troops, according to the Navy.
During the exercise, troops will conduct various drills, such as tracking simulated underwater targets, to enhance their capabilities in anti-submarine warfare tactics and combined operations, it said.
Korea first took part in the exercise organized by the U.S. 7th Fleet as an observer in 2019, before becoming a full participant the next year. The exercise was first launched in 2014. (Yonhap)
