Ruth Langsford's trip to Australia for the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! spin-off show will be "incredibly therapeutic" and beneficial for her personal healing journey, a relationship expert has claimed. The 64-year-old appeared to be in high spirits at London's Heathrow airport on Wednesday, before setting off on her lengthy flight, set to land in Brisbane today.

Ruth will make her appearance on the Down Under show on Friday, showing support for her Loose Women colleagues GK Barry and Jane Moore. Relationship expert Jesper Jensen, from ExpertsEnAmour, suggests that the presenter's overseas adventure could also provide her with a "new sense of purpose and confidence" following her split from Eamonn Holmes.

The former couple announced their separation after 14 years of marriage in May and are now in the process of a divorce. Despite Ruth's visit to Australia only being temporary, Jesper believes focusing on a new show away from home will be "incredibly therapeutic" for Ruth amid recent media attention.

"Getting stuck into work, especially something exciting like this, could give Ruth a new sense of purpose and confidence," he claimed.

"It won't fix everything overnight, but being busy and trying new things can be a great way to start moving forward emotionally and rebuilding after such a big change."

Before Ruth's flight took off, the mother-of-one shared some insights into her journey on Instagram.

She began her story with a picture of her three suitcases and joked that she "never could travel light". Ruth then bid farewell to the dreary London weather at the airport while enjoying some champagne for a bit of "Dutch courage".

More recently, she updated her followers about her stopover in Dubai before catching her connecting flight. Ruth's trip comes following reports that she is apprehensive about facing her first Christmas without a partner in years, while Eamonn is expected to spend the holidays with his new partner Katie Alexander.

An insider told OK! Magazine: "Ruth is dreading Christmas coming up, because it will be her first one apart from Eamonn - who could be spending it with his new partner.

"This Christmas means creating different memories. Ruth and Eamonn are positively co-parenting Jack (their 22 year old son), but he's at the age where he might want to do something different at Christmas, and that's worrying Ruth."
