Southbound lanes shut down north of Melbourne
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 60-year-old Rockledge woman died after a crash Friday morning on U.S. 1 that forced lane closures near Melbourne, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 7 a.m. on U.S. 1 at Otter Creek Lane, north of where U.S. 1 meets the Pineda Causeway.
According to a preliminary FHP crash report, the wreck involved an SUV and a dump truck. Details about the crash are under investigation.
The Rockledge woman was driving the SUV, troopers said. She was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, the report states.

The 69-year-old Winter Garden man who drove the dump truck was not taken to a hospital and remained at the scene, troopers said.
All southbound lanes of U.S. 1 and its inside northbound lane were blocked at the time of this report.
The FHP is still investigating.
